LOOKING FOR SPONSORS!!!
Last year, our team won the Highest Technical Advancement award in the Can-Satellite Category.
Me and the Can Satellite I developed last Philippine Cansat and Rocket Competition 2025
I developed an unsynchronized data acquisition algorithm that captures sensor data without blocking buffer memory, enabling faster update rates and freeing compute resources for SD card operations, Madgwick-based attitude estimation, and telemetry.

What will I develop now?
Project Background
The previous CanSatellite mission focused on RF detection, identifying active radio transmitters such as mobile phones during descent, and resulted in the development of an award-winning unsynchronized data acquisition system, fully compliant with competition hardware and operational constraints.
Building on this same architecture, we will replace the RF Detector into a Land Surface Temperature (LST) Detector. To address a key limitation, accurate yaw determination is achieved through the integration of a photoresistor-based sun tracking system and a full Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) combining magnetometer, gyroscope, and accelerometer data.
Furthermore, due to the 8×8 pixel output of the LST sensor, an efficient low-bandwidth telemetry system is implemented to transmit thermal data without exceeding power, bandwidth, or data-rate limits. These improvements enable spatially meaningful thermal mapping while remaining strictly within the technical, volume, and communication constraints defined by the competition.
CanSatellite Technologies to be Developed
Photoresistor-Based Sun Tracking System – Design and implement a sun-tracking system using photoresistors to reliably determine the yaw orientation of the CanSatellite.
Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) – Develop an AHRS to accurately determine the attitude of the CanSatellite, enabling precise determination of the pointing direction of the Land Surface Temperature sensor and correct spatial mapping of the measured data.
Low-Bandwidth Progressive Image Telemetry System – Develop a progressive image telemetry system that converts captured images into packetized data suitable for transmission over a low-bandwidth HC-12 RF link, enabling ground-based image reconstruction while operating within CanSatellite communication constraints.
Engineering Challenge: Rocket System
Novel Flight Computer Development
Design, build, and test a new flight computer architecture incorporating the Unsynchronized Data Acquisition System for high-rate and reliable rocket telemetry and sensor data gathering.
Crescenciano 2 Rocket Platform
Develop Crescenciano 2, the next-generation iteration of Crescenciano 1, incorporating lessons learned from the PCSRC 2025 flight and integrating the newly developed flight computer and data acquisition systems.
The Goal: Php 100 000
Cost Breakdown
- PHP 30,000 – Competition Registration Fee (February 13, 2026 deadline)
- PHP 0 – Airfare and Accommodation (Cebu-based participation)
- PHP 70,000 – Satellite and Rocket Development, including the recovery system, as well as expenses on COTS Flight Computer, as well as testing expenses and buffer for failures.
Transparency Commitment
> For transparency, a detailed post-competition expense report will be provided upon request. This can be released within seven (7) days after the competition.
Marketing Tokens
> Sponsors may opt to have their logo or brand displayed on the rocket or Can-Satellite as a sticker. We may also produce branded visual content (photo or video) featuring the satellite and rocket with a sticker of your brand on it in a 1.5 by 1.5 inch.
Physical Tokens
> Sponsors who wish to receive a physical token may request a 3D-printed miniature keychain of either the rocket or the satellite depending if we have extra materials for 3D printing, and extra funds to deliver them. But if you’re Cebu-based, I could give it to you personally.
